Mongolia is known for many things – wide – open skies, Genghis Khan, Gobi Desert and more.

This lake is located near Tsenkher River 35km north from the main road in eastern region. Black Heart is the pointed topped mountain on the north side of the lake. A fresh watered Lake Khukh which consists of 2 lakes, linked underground, is located on south of Mount Khar zurkh 1675m above sea level. Blue Lake of Black Heart – it was here that Temuujin was pronounced Genghis Khan in 1189 according to the Secret History of the Mongols. 

This journey takes 6 days to the most popular travel destinations including Gun Galuut- is the nature reserve that local based community runs it, and also visiting famous “Genghis Khan Statue Complex” which is currently the biggest (40m high) equestrian statue in the world. We cover a spectacular range of Mongolia’s landscapes and sights of cultural and historical interest, from the rolling green steppes of Central Mongolia.

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1 Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

On arrival at Genghis Khaan International Airport then we transfer to the Hotel to freshen up and you may need some time to relax from the long –distance flight or possibly from jet lag

Day 2 Blue Lake of Black Heart 

8:00am we start drive to eastwards into Khentii province, first on a recently sealed road as fas as Baganuur. Baganuur is important to Mongolia’s infrastructure as the producer of coal to fire the power stations in Ulaanbaatar. After a break by the Kherlen River, we continue along countryside roads. We will make a short detour to the Blue Lake of Black Heart, it was here that Temuujin was pronounced Genghis Khan in 1189 according to the Secret History of the Mongols. The small alpine lake is an idyllic setting for a picnic lunch. Then continue to the Bayangol ger camp, arriving in the late afternoon.

Day 3 Baldan Bereeven Monastery

This morning we make the short drive to Baldan Bereevan monastery, via Hangal Lake. Baldan Bereevan was once on of the largest centres of Buddhism in Mongolia, at it’s peak the temple complex was home to nearly 8000 lamas. The monastery destroyed during the Stalinist purges of the 1930’s, although today the temple complex is re-built by an international organization (CRTP) with the aid of local and volunteer workers. This morning we will the monastery and see first-hand the recreation of this once great facility. Return to camp for lunch. This afternoon is free for optional activities to hike in the region around camp, visit local herder family Kindness and hospitality are an integral part of the Mongolian lifestyle, with guests treated with the respect. You will have the opportunity to experience nomads lifestyle, culture, traditions, religion and hospitality, to taste Mongolian dishes.

Day 4 Gun Galuut Nature Reserve 

We bid farewell to Bayangol and re-trace our steps towards to Gun Galuut Nature Reserve-the harmonized complex of high mountains, steppes, rivers, lakes and wetlands. Upon arrival in the National Park, have lunch in the Steppe Nomads tourist Ger camp. The best place to observe birds in marsh as well as twin lakes-famous bird White Napped Crane may seen. Upon arrival in the National Park, have lunch in the Steppe Nomads tourist Ger camp. Nature reserve is area designed to create condition for protecting, preserving and restoring certain natural features as well as one of any natural resources and wealth

Day 5 Genghis Khan Statue – Ulaanbaatar- city tour

After light breakfast we drive to Ulaanbaatar. On the way we visit Genghis Khan’s Statue Complex - the biggest (40m tall) equestrian statue in the world. Explore the statue complex, have good panoramic view from top of the statue. Continue drive to Ulaanbaatar upon we arrive to the city, After lunch at Modern Nomads, our city tour starts visit to National History Museum and see sights from Mongolia’s history from pre-historic times the Mongol Empire up until Mongolia’s more recent communist past.

Next stop is Sukhbaatar Square, the town’s central square named after the people’s revolutionary hero. There is an equestrian statue of Sukhbaatar and a massive Bronze statue of Genghis Khan with his four warriors in front of Parliament house.

 This evening we will enjoy a performance of traditional Mongolian song and dance “Wonders of Mongolia” folklore show by famous Tumen-Ekh ensemble. The most interesting performances are the throat singing, contortionists and Tsam dancers, Khoomii or throat singing is a musical art delivered with the help of a guttural voice and specific way of breathing. This is one of the most successful folk art groups to share traditional Mongolian music with the world.

Day 6 Departure
